Ambivert

ambivert

Today while practicing my morning 5am ritual I read about a term I have never heard, Ambivert? Of course I know the terms Extrovert, Introvert but never heard of the other. In his book, “How to live a good life” Jonathon Fields referred to personality types which referenced the new term and a test you could take at http://www.quietrev.com/the-introvert-test/ . So I did and it confirmed that I’m an Ambivert, that means I fall smack in the middle of the introvert-extrovert spectrum. I can see that being true, it states that, “I have the best of both worlds, able to tap into the strengths of both introverts and extoverts as needed.”

This actually makes me feel pretty good, I like the idea of being able to be at home in groups as well as by myself. I also like that it doesn’t pigeon hole me as one or the other, there is nothing wrong with being one or the other, the world needs us all. I like that I can adapt quickly to different environments, this is particularly helpful in the work environment. Depending on where you work and the size of the company, being able to deal with groups/co-workers and being alone to finish projects is something we always need to balance.

So no matter where you fall on the spectrum just know that you are you and it’s OK. Being one or the other doesn’t make you a bad person or a good person, just be you!
