Mindfulness Journey

So I’ve been doing a lot of introspection, soul surfing, mindfulness training and even meditation lately.  They all have their place in your psyche, but what I’ve found is that it all helps me with focus, calmness & inner peace, all very much needed in my busy life. I follow positive people on blogs, podcasts, Instagram and even old fashioned books.

I’m tired of all the negativity in the world today and the news. It tends to hang on you like an ill fitting coat. Through my daily practices I try to throw off that old coat and start with a positive outlook. That’s not to say that bad or negative things won’t happen during the day, but I feel I’m in a better place to deal with it and not let it drag me down. I can only speak for myself but these things do work for me, I suggest to all to try to start some sort of daily practice, I subscribe to Jeff Sanders 5AM Miracle podcast and that was the first part of my ongoing journey, by carving time out just for myself in the early hours of the morning is just awesome, it energizes me and helps the day start off right. I’m also reading a new book by Jonathan Fields; “How To Live a Good Life” very interesting and helpful, I also use a meditation app called Insight Timer that is a vast collection of different meditation practices and teachers. Short meditations and long best part is that it’s free. I suggest if you are new to this find basic ones that are introductions and are shorter time spans. Then I use the YouVersion Bible app that has great inspirational reading plans, verse of the day and more. After I work on my mind and spirit the body is next, I try to do some sort exercise. For now some free wieghts, I’m looking for a new treadmill as well. After all that I still have time for breakfast, coffee and get ready for work. Of course it’s all magical when it works (doesn’t happen everyday)! See below for some helpful tools to help you get started on your journey, “every journey starts with just one step.”
