Funny how going on a job interview is a lot like going on a blind date…You don’t really know what to expect, “will they like me, will I like them? Do I look good? Did I bring mints? Oh God don’t let me say something stupid.” The expectation, the buildup, the preparing, all very much like a blind date.
Then there is the sense of relief when it is all over, then the waiting for a call, the hope that they did like you and want you to come back. “Was I funny? Articulate? Was my presentation too much, or not enough? Did I say anything wrong? Did I ask the right questions?” This goes on for a few days after the interview/date, the double guessing, rethinking every word, quite exhausting actually.
But that’s what it takes these days, each opportunity is your chance to see if you have what it takes. You know there were others interviewed, you question who they might be and are they more qualified than you? I guess you just have to know that deep down you gave it your best, and that’s all any of us can do, the rest is up to them.
So I’m hopeful that I did my best at my interview, now it’s wait and see. For me that is sometimes the hardest part.
Good luck to all who are in a similar situation, have faith, be true to yourself, when you feel like giving up, Don’t! Keep striving to be the best you can be…
